Altitude Sickness Guide
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a serious risk above 2500m. Symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and loss of appetite. The golden rule is never ascend more than 300-500m per day above 3000m. Always acclimatize properly β spend an extra day at key altitudes. Stay hydrated β drink 3-4 litres of water daily. Avoid alcohol and sleeping pills at altitude. Diamox (Acetazolamide) can help prevent AMS but consult a doctor before use. If symptoms worsen β descend immediately. Severe AMS can develop into life-threatening HACE or HAPE. Never ignore warning signs.
